Active Plus. There are grants for activating seniors

- Active plus is a program that I took over on July 1 as a result of the Allotment Act, and we are already announcing the results of the competition in July as part of the recruitment for it Actually, this program is the previous ASOS program, which was introduced back in the PO-PSL government. In the meantime, it has changed its name. It's a government program that finances initiatives of non-governmental organizations to support the physical, social and intellectual activities of the elderly," Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz explained during a press conference on Wednesday.

This year's edition received more than 1.6 thousand project applications with a total value of more than PLN 230 million. The competition commission selected 199 offers and awarded a total of PLN 38 million in grants for their implementation.

Meanwhile, the case of the previous edition of the competition, for 2023, is awaiting finalization in an investigation by the prosecutor's office following an audit conducted at the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy by the Supreme Audit Office.

- It turned out that the program was implemented in violation of the law. It turned out that the minister, a day before the announcement of the results, changed the provisions of the applicable regulations, increasing the pool of funds at the minister's disposal from PLN 3.8 million to PLN 9.5 million. As a result, as much as 25% of the funding was awarded outside of the experts' evaluation. Due to the sudden change in the rules of evaluation, as many as 24 organizations operating in the minister's constituency received funds," recalled Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz.
