The act will include, inter alia, provisions that will enable the introduction of the fault principle. It means no sanctions against medical personnel in the event of an adverse event in a patient.
- The most important thing for the patient is that he will not have to claim his compensation for a medical malpractice for ten years or longer. It will be a quick procedure, explained the Minister of Health.
The draft act obliges hospitals to introduce a system for monitoring adverse events. This is to apply to both facilities having a contract with the National Health Fund, as well as those that provide services in a commercial manner.
It is also assumed, inter alia, introducing a requirement to authorize hospitals with regard to the provision of healthcare services financed from public funds. Authorization will be granted by the Directors of Provincial Branches of the National Health Fund.
- This act is one of the most important regulations for the health care system. Our goal is to build quality understood as a culture of patient safety - emphasized Adam Niedzielski.
