Health care is one of the leading themes of the presidency. Here are some key initiatives:
- Geriatric care: the Law on Special Geriatric Care stipulates that 75+ Centers will be established to provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for seniors, including rehabilitation. More than 300 such centers are planned to open within a few years.
- Free medicines: the Law on Free Medicines for Children and Persons Over 65 extends access to free medicines, special foodstuffs and medical devices to children under the age of 18 and persons over the age of 65.
- Preventive health care: more than 146,000 free preventive examinations and medical consultations were carried out as part of the "Healthy Life" campaign between 2022 and 2023. Mobile Health Zones visited 37 localities, offering examinations and consultations with specialists.
- Health Care Council: The council analyzed key issues such as coordinated health care, genetic prevention and the effects of excessive alcohol consumption.
- Infertility treatment: The President's Office is working on regulating state funding for comprehensive infertility treatments, which alongside in-vitro could help realize the dreams of many Poles to have offspring.
- Pharmaceutical Law: The President vetoed an amendment to the Pharmaceutical Law that would have allowed people under the age of 18 to access contraceptive products without a doctor's supervision or parental consent, in response to a petition signed by 30,000 people.
- Bills: The President has submitted four bills to the Diet, including a bill on personal assistance for people with disabilities, aimed at providing systemic support and independent living for people with disabilities.
