Emergency medicine training for Ukrainian doctors

A delegation from the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University visited the Medical University of Warsaw: prof. Oryna Detsyk, prof. Ulyana Kuz, prof. Iryna Kozova, prof. Irena Kozlova.
Members of the delegation met with the Rector of the Medical University of Warsaw, prof. Zbigniew Gaciong and prof. Robert Gałązkowski, vice-dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences and head of the Medical Rescue Department of the Medical University of Warsaw. The talks focused on cooperation between universities in the face of Russia's aggression against Ukraine. It was established that specialists from the Medical University of Warsaw will train 400 Ukrainian doctors in the field of emergency medical services. The trainings will take place on the territory of Ukraine. In turn, five-person teams of Ukrainian emergency medical instructors will come to Poland to undergo two-week training at the Medical University of Warsaw. After returning to Ukraine, the instructors will pass their knowledge to local doctors and paramedics. Additionally, it is planned to purchase first aid teaching equipment and send it to Ukraine.
The meeting was also attended by prof. Agnieszka Cudnoch-Jędrzejewska Vice-Rector for Personnel and Organizational Affairs, prof. Paweł Włodarski Vice-Rector for Internationalization, Promotion and Development, prof. Marek Kuch Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Education and dr hab. Małgorzata Witkowska-Zimny coordinator of the Erasmus + program.
- We would like to thank Poland for its help, for standing next to us "- said prof. Oryna Detsyk, head of the delegation and head of the Department of Social Medicine and Public Health of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University. - We are counting on further cooperation to reach the standards of European healthcare organizations in Ukraine - added prof. Detsyk.
- Professor Detsyk is a doyen of Ukrainian-Polish cooperation - said prof. Robert Gałązkowski. - This cooperation has been going on for 13 years. As part of it, we have already trained 5,000 Ukrainian doctors, and for 9 years we have held conferences on emergency medicine alternately in Poland and Ukraine. It was the professor who coordinated our action on the Ukrainian side of handing over several dozen ambulances. They all went straight to the front.
The Ukrainian delegation also met with the Vice-Rector of MUW for internationalization, promotion and development, prof. Paweł Włodarski, with whom she talked about the further cooperation of universities and the possibility of organizing study visits of Ukrainian researchers to Poland and exchange of students.
Mariusz Gujski, the dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, discussed the organization of training courses for Ukrainian psychologists in the field of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) therapy as part of the cooperation between the Medical University of Warsaw and the SWPS University.
The visit was organized under the Erasmus + program.
