Disturbing information has reached the Ombudsman. Hospitals are sounding the alarm about shortages of very important drugs that patients should take after being discharged from medical facilities. The drugs in question are, for example, penicillin and amoxicillin, which are basically not available in pharmacies.
There are cases when children receiving intravenous antibiotics in the hospital after being discharged home need to continue treatment with these drugs. Unfortunately, this is impossible because they are not available at the pharmacy. Only single packs of drugs are available, which, moreover, are available in pharmacies at a considerable distance from their place of residence.
These are not the only drugs that pharmacies are running out of. Vaccines, diabetes and allergy medications are also affected by shortages of medical products.
Hospital directors are also concerned that medicines will also begin to run out in inpatient units.
Director of BRPO's Administrative and Economic Law Team Piotr Mierzejewski asks Director of the Department of Drug Policy and Pharmacy of the Ministry of Health Lukasz Szmulski for his position and information on actions taken or planned.
