- When it seemed that the Minister of Education and Science could not say anything worse, he again climbs the Kilimanjaro of ignorance and defends universities that should never in their lives be allowed to train future doctors. We are just in the midst of a disaster in the health care staffing sector, medical faculties are being opened en masse at universities that offer their students "electronic operating rooms," and the Minister of Education and Science is busy giving credence to these fleecing faculties and insulting doctors and medical university rectors. This is an incredible scandal," comments Michal Bulsa, president of the Regional Medical Council in Szczecin.

The Supreme Chamber of Physicians has notified the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Ostrów Wielkopolski of a suspected crime committed by the President Stanisław Wojciechowski University of Kalisz. The university opened a medical faculty without adequate infrastructure and technical facilities, having twice received negative opinions from the Polish Accreditation Commission.

During the inauguration of the university's academic year, in a comment to the Polish Press Agency, Minister of Education and Science Przemyslaw Czarnek stated that "the insolence of the Supreme Medical Council knows no bounds." Such words, as well as the far-reaching determination of the minister and the rector to defend medical faculties that are just starting at universities that are not prepared for this, are shocking to the doctors of the Regional Medical Council in Szczecin.

- Minister of Education and Science Przemyslaw Czarnek is right about one thing. Poland is short of tens of thousands of doctors in public health care. Does this mean that we will be opening medical faculties in every vocational school in a while, just so that "everything will start to add up" in the statistics? Maybe we should first think about improving working conditions in the public sector?- says Michal Bulsa, president of the Regional Medical Council in Szczecin.

- Do we want us to be treated by medical graduates who did not learn in professional medical rooms? In operating rooms? Using electronic tools rather than real preparations? Minister of Education and Science Przemyslaw Czarnek and the Law and Justice government are the architects of the decline of the prestige of medical education in Poland, says Michal Bulsa.

As President Bulsa adds, the Supreme Medical Chamber and the District Medical Chambers have been saying for years what needs to be done so that there are more doctors in Poland. It is not an art to bet on the number of universities training doctors, but on quality. It is also important that universities that have traditions, facilities and staff educating future medics use their full potential. The government should take care of making work in the public health sector more attractive and not systematically make it more dishonorable.

- We appeal to Przemyslaw Chernek for reflection. We do not expect an apology or kind words. It is not shameful not to know, but it is shameful not to want to supplement one's knowledge," adds Michal Bulsa.
