Nurses ranked outside the top three professions with the highest public trust, according to a ranking published by SW Research. Doctors took over the third place on the podium from them. In second place, unchanged from 2021, remain paramedics. Advancement by one place in the top ten, however, was scored by pharmacists.

The leadership position of the ranking was defended for the fourth time by the firefighting profession, repeating the esteem index of a year ago, i.e. 84 percent. Just behind it, also unchanged for four years, was the paramedic with a score of 83 percent.

It can be said that nurses and doctors have shared the third place on the podium for years. This is because it turns out that they rotate every two years. In 2021 and 2023, the nursing profession took third place, and in even-numbered years, 2022 and 2024, the medical profession took third place with a score of 76 percent.

"An analogous two-year rotation cycle is slowly emerging for the pairing of a university professor and a pharmacist (debuting in 2023). This year, the representative of the pharmacy profession overtook the representative of the scientific world by 1 percentage point," reads the SW Research website.

None of the health professions, however, made the parallel published list of those held in the least esteem. Leading the way in this category are a minister, a priest and a call center employee, respectively.

The survey is conducted every year in the last week of April. The measurement is done on a representative sample of more than a thousand adult Poles. The list of occupations includes 40 professions.
